Each year the Faith Formation program supports the Chimbote Foundation during Lent. The Chimbote Foundation in Pittsburgh supports the diocesan mission in Chimbote, Peru through raising money to fund a maternity hospital, clinic, children’s home, and home-visit healthcare in an impoverished area. Donations to the Foundation have been drastically hit by the pandemic. We ask that you help your child to learn about Chimbote, and to complete service projects around your home to “earn” money to donate to this cause.

Some ideas for your child to serve at home and "earn" $1 for Chimbote.

• Ask your family what you can do to make their day easier (then do it!)
• Clean your room without being asked
• Set the table for dinner
• Clear the table after dinner
• Wash dishes after dinner
• Read a book to a younger sibling
• Offer to do a sibling’s chore for them
• Sweep the floor in a room
• Write a note telling a family member what you love about them
• Help with yardwork/shoveling snow
• Take care of a pet (feed them, clean their litter, take them for a walk)
• Offer to lead a family prayer
• Call an elderly family member to say hi
• Help a younger sibling with their school work
• Offer your parent 15 minutes of quiet time
• Share a toy that a sibling always wants to play with
• Ask a parent to teach you a new chore
• Help take out the trash
• Pray for each member of your family
• Pray for the children in Chimbote, Peru
