  • KEEPING THE LORD'S DAY HOLY

“Sunday is the day of the Resurrection, it is the day of Christians, it is our day” ~ St. Jerome

Although the Diocese of Pittsburgh has dispensated the obligation for Sunday Mass until further notice, Sunday itself remains a day of joy and rest because it is still the Lord’s Day.

" Sharing in the Eucharist is the heart of Sunday, but the duty to keep Sunday holy cannot be reduced to this. In fact, the Lord’s Day is lived well if it is marked from beginning to end by grateful and active remembrance of God’s saving work."  Dies Domini (52)

Here are some ideas to help you keep the Lord's Day holy during this time if you do not attend the Sunday Mass:
    1) Prayerfully watch Mass online and participate as if you were there.
Sunday Mass live streamed on Sunday morning at 7 a.m. on our Facebook page, and                   available here afterward.
Daily Mass with Bishop Barron (see video above)
Mass from Saint Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh (daily)
EWTN Live Stream (8:00 a.m. and NOON)

    2) Make a spiritual communion:
“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all       things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You       sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were                 already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.         Amen.”

    3) Conduct an in-home celebration of the Liturgy of the Word.
The Catholic Community of Wexford Sunday Mass Worship Aid
Free Magnificat Missal subscribtion (for following the readings and prayers)

    4) Pray the Rosary and Liturgy of the Hours

    7) Resources for Kids
